Trump Drops $8 Billion on Farmers Mid-Campaign. You Are Paying for It.
$8 Billion. In Kansas. During a Tightening Senate Race. Totally a Coincidence.
Trump just announced $8 billion in payments to farmers through something called the Harvest Fuel Relief Fund. The reason given is rising diesel costs from Middle East energy disruptions. Fine. But here is the part they gloss right over. Every business in America is dealing with higher energy costs. Truckers. Manufacturers. Restaurants. Small business owners. Nobody is writing them a federal check.
So why farmers? And why now? And why in Kansas of all places?
Let’s Look at the Full Tab
I want you to see this as the pattern it actually is, not a one-time relief measure.
- $8 billion just announced, Harvest Fuel Relief Fund
- $12 billion earlier this year, farmer bridge assistance
- $28 billion during Trump’s first term
- Decades of baseline farm subsidies on top of all of this
That is nearly $50 billion in recent years alone flowing to a single industry. And this is the same industry I was talking about 15 years ago on the radio, when farm subsidy checks were being mailed to Park Avenue addresses in Manhattan. I lived in Manhattan. I promise you, nobody was growing corn in the median on Park Avenue.
The Scam Nobody Will Call Out
Here is the part that should make your blood boil. Agriculture is one of the only industries in existence with zero demand risk. Everyone has to eat. The customer base is every living human on the planet. The product never goes out of style. There is no Amazon disrupting the food market.
If the free market cannot sustain an industry that sells something every human being requires to survive, then the free market is not the problem. The corporate agribusiness lobby is the problem. The system is working exactly as designed, just not for you.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Who is actually cashing these checks, small family farmers or large agricultural corporations?
- Why does this money always seem to flow right before competitive elections?
- Why is no one in the media doing the math on how much total subsidy money has been paid out over the past 20 years?
- What would happen if this money went directly to consumers instead?
Your Money, Their Credit
Trump was in Kansas when he made this announcement. The Senate race there is tightening. Senator Roger Marshall was credited with helping secure the funds. That is not reporting. That is a press release dressed up as news.
This is how the machine works. Your tax dollars get collected, held in Washington, and then handed back to a specific industry in a specific state at a politically convenient moment. The politician takes the bow. You get the bill. And Farm Aid concerts keep going on every year as if the problem is somehow still a crisis after decades of massive government intervention.
I have been saying this for 15 years. The script does not change. Only the dollar amounts get bigger.
