Why I Never Stopped Getting Angry: The Real Reason This Show Exists

The Show Started as a Scam Detector

When I launched this show in 2000, the format was simple. Financial industry ripping people off? I called it out by name. Brokerage firms misleading clients? Named them. Scams targeting everyday investors? Exposed them. The anger was real, it was loud, and frankly, it was completely justified.

Wall Street has never lacked for targets. That has not changed.

The Shift That Changed Everything

Somewhere around 2006 or 2007, I had a moment of clarity. Exposing bad actors is necessary, but it is not sufficient. If all I ever do is tell you the wolves are out there, you are still walking into the woods unarmed.

So I made a choice. I started spending more time teaching:

• Proper asset allocation and what it actually means for your long-term security
• Personal financial responsibility, because nobody on Wall Street or in Washington is going to look out for you the way you can look out for yourself
• The real value of time, money, and effort, and how to stop letting institutions drain all three

The rip-off segments did not disappear. They never will. But the mission got bigger.

What Still Sets Me Off

Here is the honest answer to why the fire never went out:

• Inflation gutted everyday Americans while politicians from both parties kept writing checks they had no business writing and calling it generosity
• Obamacare was sold as salvation and ended up as a windfall for the insurance industry. Expanded COVID-era health subsidies? Same story, different branding
• Politicians promise fiscal sanity while the bond market keeps absorbing the lies
• People who needed real guidance got pointed in the wrong direction by advisors who put their own commissions first

No Masters, No Agenda

I will say this plainly. I do not have benefactors. No Wall Street firm owns my opinion. No political party funds this show. When I attack bad policy, I attack it from both sides of the aisle, because incompetence and corruption do not belong to one party.

The whole point of personal responsibility is that it is personal. Take ownership of your money, your decisions, and your future. Because the people in power who claim to care about you? They have proven, repeatedly, that they care about something else entirely.

That is why I still get fired up. And that is why this show is still here.
