Let Me Be Brutally Honest With You

I’ve spent 26 years on air warning people about socialism, dependency, and what happens when the government decides it knows better than you do how to run your life. And looking at where we are right now, I’m not exactly breaking out the victory champagne. We’re losing this fight. Badly.

What makes it worse is that most people are still playing the partisan game, blaming one side while the other side does the exact same thing with a different hat on. Republicans are now talking about raising payroll taxes to deal with Social Security. A payroll tax. Which is a tax. The Supreme Court said so. It goes to the same pot of money. But sure, let’s pretend it’s something different so we feel better about it while millions of working Americans get pushed past a 50 percent effective tax rate.

The Playbook Has Always Existed. You Just Weren’t Supposed to Notice.

There’s a framework that describes the step-by-step process of moving a society toward total government dependency. I’ve referenced it for years. It isn’t a conspiracy theory. It’s a strategic checklist, and we’re watching it get executed in real time.

• Healthcare control. Once the government owns your healthcare, they own a significant part of you. Your compliance becomes much easier to secure when your medical access is on the line.
• Expand the dependent class. Change the poverty thresholds. Broaden who qualifies. Hand out housing, food, income, checks. More recipients mean more reliable voters. This isn’t cynical speculation. This is math.
• Debt as a weapon. The national debt we’re carrying right now is not an accident. It’s a justification machine. Massive debt means massive tax increases are always just around the corner, and massive tax revenue means massive power to distribute favors.
• Capture education. Teachers unions are among the most politically destructive forces operating in this country right now. When you control what children are taught, you shape what adults will tolerate.
• Class warfare as a smokescreen. Keep people furious at each other based on income brackets. That fury is a pressure release valve that keeps them from looking at who is actually running the game.

Both Teams Are Handing Out Checks Now

J.D. Vance wants to send checks to stay-at-home moms. Look, I understand the appeal politically. But once you establish the government’s role as check-writer to a specific demographic, that demographic will vote to protect that check. Every. Single. Time.

Mitt Romney got destroyed for saying exactly this out loud at a campaign event years ago. He pointed out that roughly half the electorate wasn’t going to vote for him because they were receiving some form of government benefit. He was right. And then like a coward, he walked it back instead of turning it into an honest national conversation about what dependency economics actually does to a free society.

That’s the pattern. Someone accidentally tells the truth. Then they apologize for it. And nothing changes.

The Financial Consequences Are Real and They Land on You

This isn’t abstract political philosophy. When governments run this playbook, the people who pay for it are the ones doing everything right.

• Workers with solid jobs get hit with higher effective tax rates that quietly drain their ability to build wealth.
• Inflation becomes a feature of the system, not a bug, eroding your purchasing power and your savings simultaneously.
• Retirement planning gets harder because you’re building on a foundation that keeps shifting based on whoever won the last election.
• The productive class funds the expansion while the political class takes the credit.
