Fair Share Is a Scam: The Time Math They Never Want You to Do

Nobody Can Define It Because the Definition Would Bury Them

I spent years on CNN, liberal radio, every kind of debate stage you can imagine. Every time the ‘fair share’ crowd fired up their talking points, I asked one question. A simple one. Not a gotcha, not a trick. Just a question.

What is fair when measured in time?

Crickets. Every single time. Because if they actually answered it, the entire ideological framework they’ve built around class resentment and wealth redistribution collapses on the spot.

I was on with Don Lemon once. Made him look completely lost on the topic of student loan subsidies. Never got invited back. Funny how that works. The media doesn’t want people asking questions that don’t have convenient answers.

The Hustle They Don’t Want to Acknowledge

Let me tell you what my schedule looks like, not because I want a medal, but because it represents what building something actually requires:

• Up at three in the morning, every morning
• Winding down around five in the evening on a normal day
• Six days a week, with Sunday being the one I’m actively fighting to protect
• Business owners never actually go on vacation, the phone still rings, the clients still need you, the responsibility does not clock out

There are laws being floated in Europe right now that protect employees from after-hours contact. Fine. But those laws do not apply to the people who signed the front of the paycheck. Not one politician pushing ‘fair share’ is talking about that reality.

What They’re Actually Coming For

This is not philosophical. These are real proposals with real consequences:

• Income tax hikes that keep redefining who counts as ‘rich’
• Payroll tax increases that punish both workers and the employers who hire them
• Property taxes that rise regardless of whether you had a good year or a brutal one
• Compounding state and local burdens that make the federal picture even uglier

Living in a no-income-tax state helps. But it doesn’t solve the whole problem, and most Americans don’t have that option.

Do the Math They’re Terrified You’ll Do

Here is what I want you to actually calculate. Add up every dollar you paid in taxes last year. Federal, state, payroll, property, sales, all of it. Figure out your effective hourly rate based on the hours you actually worked. Divide one by the other.

That is the number of hours you worked for the government and not for yourself or your family.

For a lot of hard-working Americans who took risks, built things, and never asked for a handout, that number is infuriating. And it should be.

The people screaming loudest about fair share are almost never the ones who built anything. They’re counting your money and deciding how much of it you deserve to keep. Until they can answer what ‘fair’ means in terms of actual hours of your actual life, the whole conversation is a hustle dressed up as morality.
