Tariffs Could Kill Affordable Cars in America
(00:00.568)
car makers are now threatening to pull models. And the worst of it is these are, in essence, these are inexpensive, cheaper model cars. Foreign based automakers basically are telling the Trump administration that they’re gonna start pulling all of their cheaper car models out of the United States if the US Mexico Canada agreement isn’t renewed or is watered down.
Yep. Nissan, Hyundai and Toyota are among the few car makers in the country where you can get new, smaller, affordable automobiles. And Detroit, they don’t make these things anymore. They don’t. They are forced to do in electric cars, not doing that anymore. Basically working on SUVs and trucks. Cars like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
are made in the United States, but you need parts. Parts from Canada, parts from Mexico. Again, the USMCA in 2020 provided tariff free treatment to cars built largely with US, Mexican or Canadian parts. Yeah, no more, no more. Tariff man, here come my tariff man.
You got Yeah, 25 % tariff on non US content of vehicles that would have previously been qualified as duty free. Trump says he needs to have these levies for national security. Let me let me break this down because you’re going to hear adjunct morons like Pete Navarro. I’m sorry. I mean, these people are wrong on everything on everything. Oh, that’s gonna be great.
Detroit’s going to be able start making these small cars again. They’re do it. No, they’re not. No, no, they’re not because they’re going to still have to get the parts from over there. And even when they were making smaller cars, OK, their contracts with their workers are too high. They would make all of those small cars. The Ford Fiesta in Mexico. So no, no, all you’re doing once again is hurting consumers.

Thanks. Thanks. Because again, people that I’ve got, honestly, it’s the Plato cave people staring at the, staring at the shadows of the wall, the wonders of tariff and tariff man. How have they helped? At all. Great trade deals, all this stuff, manufacturing’s coming back. It’s not. It’s not. Okay, you were wrong. Okay, when you, again, when you make a mistake,
You recognize that mistake and you change course. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
