Bezos Torches Tax-Code Hypocrisy in CNBC Interview
(00:00.504)
Jeff Bezos absolutely knocked it out of the park. did an interview CNBC actually did it from Maryland, Florida, where his origin and his space program is being put together. And and Ross Sorkin from CNBC did the honors and it was a masterclass of him just identifying the BS in our society today. Going after billionaire. We’re going after billionaires. You’re going after Jeff Bezos, he’s one of the largest employers in the country. Do me a favor, okay? Give me a break, you use the service, okay? I do all the time for crying out loud. I wanna go back in time because I remember Jeff when he was, know, just a scrawny little thing, he hits the gym now. And you know, he built his company, he boxed up books.
put him into boxes and he made it. He did it. A entry level worker, entry level, even have high school diploma at his, in Queens, for example, Queens, New York, making over $50,000 a year. $50,000, entry level works, one of the largest employers in the country, not to mention the billions of dollars that he pays in taxes.
We live in a world right now. And again, I go off on the tax code. In the interview, Bezos went off on the tax code as well, making fun of the tens of thousands of pages and all the loopholes and all the corporate welfare that’s put into the thing. And he’s not wrong. But he has paid billions of dollars in taxes. He’s given away billions of dollars. He’s continuing to do that. When you see the likes of
AOC and Elizabeth Warren and making their comments the whole year you didn’t earn it and paying much more. It was fascinating in his interview he he talked about talk to the bottom half of the country paying 3 % of all taxes out there. Notice suggestion was make it zero.
(02:19.438)
Make it zero. He’s saying, he’s saying, no, no, no, not a dollar, not, you know, 1 % make it zero. Bottom 50%. He’s like, he says some, you know, school teacher in Queens making $75,000 a year has got to pay $12,000 a year and taxes make it zero.
got a point. Where’s that money going to come from? Well, he was basically saying, Hey, you want to tax me more? That is, that’s a policy question. He said, we can can talk about that and talk about policies, tax rate, what a fair share is it? But he’s like, we don’t have a revenue problem. We don’t. We don’t have a revenue problem. So what do we do? Rather than actually give direct help? Just you know, here you go.
here, you’re not paying taxes anymore. There’s tax cuts for you. They come up with some nonsensical government program. He’s not wrong.
He’s not wrong. He’s spot on. His points in regards to spending and all of the waste that’s involved. He actually brought up the point of what is spent in New York City. We made this point here on the program as well. $44,000 a year per student for horrible outcomes. Horrible outcomes, paying more than anywhere else. He’s like, if I ran Amazon, if I ran Amazon like this, you’d order a product from me, it’d get delivered
You know, six weeks later, it’d be one hundred dollars to be delivered and you would get the wrong thing. And he’s not wrong. He’s spot on in what he is saying. I’m. Need more, I’m sorry. OK, it is part of the problem. I wrote a column about this years ago. It’s called When the Boss Shrugs. You see his boat, you see that he’s able to fund the Met Gala, whatever it may be.
(04:17.774)
You see the other things that he has. You know how hard he worked to get to that point in life. know, AOC had brought it up on a recent podcast. Nobody should nobody can earn a billion dollars. You’re doing it on the backs of this. mean, shut up. You can earn a billion dollars and he explains. You open up a you open up a burger joint. You open up a burger joint.
And then just what does really well, you have an unbelievable burger, one of the best out there. Then you open up another one. Then another, then another, another new say, hey, in and out burger. He’s talking about other businesses that are now billion dollar businesses. He’s not wrong. And we talked about it, and they were talking a little bit about him giving his wealth away, the money that he has. And he said, it’s difficult because you want to do it the right way.
You want to do it the right way. You want to make sure the money’s going to the right places. But a great point that he made was the fact that that’s nothing. Given away his his wealth. It’s the companies that he has developed and what they have done for society and the people that they employ, whether it be Amazon, whether it be the origin, whether it be his new company.
Prometheus, which is really kind of a fascinating company. also talked about AI in the sense that he’s not a big believer that it’s going to eliminate, you know, every job out there. He talked about it like any other revolution as far as technology is concerned. He said when the plow was first used, that lifted the wealth of the entire world when the wheel was
First use it lifted the wealth of the entire world electricity all of these things everyone the entire world became wealthier is it that’s what the value is of Amazon and the other things that he’s trying to to leave Spot-on. and he also to one of his last points another one that I use all the time that the leftists love to believe there’s this idea that
(06:38.348)
You know, the world’s economy is a pizza.
And it’s finite. And the leftists want to divide up the pizza so everybody gets their fair share. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. OK, it’s not. If it can get bigger and bigger and bigger. again, I’m all for it. I want more wealthy people. I watch I watch someone like that. I watch him. You like that. And again, you got to read a little bit about his backstory, how bright he was. But again.
He was doing all of these high level mathematics and engineering classes and you know, he couldn’t keep up with the smartest kids in the class. Just couldn’t do it. And you know, went on to other things, worked his tail off.
I’m not envious.
People and I don’t understand that it’s a terrible terrible sin It’s a look at somebody what why not look at someone like that and in Marvel At what they’ve built and what they’ve done rather than try to drag them down But anyway, if you get a chance highly recommend watching the interview or watch it online He doesn’t do a lot of these things Also talks about some of the things that they’re looking to do in regards to the space program and his new company Prometheus, which is kind of fascinating quite frankly anyway

more power to them. Keep growing. Keep becoming wealthier, Jeff, because the wealthier you become, the wealthier we all become. Watchdogonwallstreet.com.
