Don’t doubt me.
I cannot revel in self-righteous, pat-myself-on-the-back behavior after witnessing another prediction of mine becoming reality. In my opinion, it is in particularly bad taste and bottom barrel decorum to celebrate when bad things are happening even if I did give everyone a heads-up.
We are living in an alternative universe when it comes to free-markets, capitalism and growth. We have been transported to an alternative dimension of patronage, cronyism and stagnation. I first used the phrase, “The Watchdog on Wall Street’s Axis of Evil” (politicians, big-business and the main-stream-media) over ten years ago. At the time I commented that my axis would do far more damage to our nation than President George W. Bush’s axis of evil (Iraq, Iran and North Korea.)
We had this amazing machine called Free Market Capitalism. This machine was responsible for creating the greatest growth engine the world has ever seen. It has been responsible for manufacturing, technological, medicinal advances and raised the standard of living for the entire world. For some god-forsaken reason we decided to discard our formula for success and put the pedal to the metal on Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” or AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” We have reached the end of the road. We are in Socialism Town.
The thing about socialism that many fail to realize is that it too is a creator of wealth. However, rather than reward the individuals that work the hardest and are the most innovative, it bestows riches on the insiders. The cronies that traffic in favors and build nothing but bureaucracy, you find them all gathered at their yearly conference in Davos.
I don’t know what the future holds. My crystal ball tells me the past, not the future. What it is telling me is that America has a way of righting itself when it hits bottom. We are 8th in the world in ease of starting and running a business. We are currently 32 out 34 of the OECD countries when it comes to tax competiveness. Business creation is at a 40 year low. The middle class is being hollowed out with the extremes at both the top and bottom growing. Business regulation and Obamacare are suffocating the life out our nations job creators.
It is time to leave Socialism Town and that is what America voted for. If Donald Trump can accomplish the things that he has set out to do, from simplifying the tax code, getting rid of Obamacare, freeing us from the regulatory agencies, streamline government, enforce our laws and get us out of all these global conflicts, our potential is limitless.
The tune will change to…“For Those About To Rock We Salute You.”
