Trump, Massie, And Speaker Johnson Battle Over A Government Shutdown
(00:00.558)
time for a little government shutdown drama. That’s right. We got it again. Isn’t it amazing though? It’s fascinating. Oh my god, Democrats threatening to shut down the government. And then it’s saying that when the Republicans threaten to shut down the government, oh my god, they’re gonna take away social security, Medicare, people are gonna get their checks, it’s gonna be anarchy. Whatever. Anyway, this
entire drama, shutdown drama, continuing resolution crap makes me sick to my stomach, quite frankly. You have the Republicans have come together and they have put together again, again, again. It’s like Groundhog Day. You got to cue up Sonny and share again. It’s the same thing. We’re not going to get our job done. Doesn’t matter Democrats, Republicans.
We’re just going to push this down the road and hope nobody pays attention in September. Yeah, September. Again, they pushed this to September. Congress isn’t even in session in August. When did they get out of Dodge? Like mid-July. They barely work. They take a bigger, more vacation time than the Europeans do for crying out loud. Anyway, I’m going to actually give you the release from the House Freedom.
caucus about this continuing resolution. They’re saying that contrary to Congress’s longtime abuse of this legislative tool, this CR, this one, I guess they found Jesus, the Republicans. This continuing resolution is a paradigm shift. This bill will reduce and then freeze spending for the next six months to allow President Trump and his administration to continue their critical work
within the executive branch to find and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. Correct me, correct me if I’m wrong. Elon’s been doing that. DOGE has been doing that. Why not, why not just, know, basically in this continued resolution, write out some of the crap that you’ve been spending money on?
(02:28.098)
because you’re basically just, you’re sending them checks again. Anyway, anyway, it says it entirely kills the prospect of a budget busting pork-filled omnibus this fiscal year, and it breaks the long standing practice of the swamp of handcuffing increases in defense with increases to the non-defense bureaucracy. It contains zero earmarks, makes major rescissions to the IRS and the Commerce Slush Fund.
and includes additional funding for immigration enforcement deportation operations. It prevents Democrats from derailing the America First agenda with a go nowhere government shutdown. With the six months of funding this bill provides, Freedom Caucus members look forward to working hand in hand with DOJ, ONB, and the new cabinet secretaries in eliminating even more waste, fraud, and abuse, and enacting historic spending reforms via reconciliation.
All as part of President Trump’s effort to balance the budget. And many, many are out there circling the wagons, the commentators, the Hugh Hewitts of the world and many others saying, Hey, listen, you got to give the president his chance. He’s got got to allow this to take place. You know, we’re, we’re in charge continuing resolution.
This is put out by a guy that I have a great deal of respect for. I’ve talked about him before, Thomas Massey. The argument for the continuing resolution of September 2024 was to fight in December 2024 after the election. Remember that? Remember that? No, no, no. Yeah, yeah. It wasn’t that long ago, Okay. It’s March. Okay. Wasn’t that long ago. But no, no, no, no, no. Everybody had to go home for Christmas.
vehicle for how to go home for Christmas, God forbid, they actually work a little bit. And then the argument for the continuing resolution in December of 2024 was to fight and March of 2025 after the inauguration, this is what we’re do, we’re gonna get this thing done. We’re gonna get on this, we’re gonna make cut, we’re gonna do budget cuts, do all this stuff. And now the argument for the continuing resolution and March of 2025.
(04:48.43)
is that they’re going to come back and fight in September of 2025. Right.
How should I put this? Go sell bullshit somewhere else. Listen, I’ve been force fed your bullshit for decades now. And again, you you’re watching these Republicans go on Fox News and Fox Business with, so much passion in their voice wanting to give the president the opportunity to put forth his agenda.
Come on!
No, no, far as I’m concerned, no time like the present. No time like the present. And Donald Trump pissed me off. Okay. He pissed me off yesterday. He lashed out at Thomas Massey and a truth social post post declaring that the Congressman should be primaried and pledging to lead the charge against him.
and he likened Thomas Massey to Liz Cheney. Congressman Thomas Massey of a beautiful Kentucky is an automatic no vote on just about everything. So, so is one of the great senators on my lifetime, Tom Coburn. They used to call him Dr. No. Anyway, despite the fact that he has always voted for continuing resolutions in the past, he should be primaried. And I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another grandstander who’s too much trouble.
(06:32.172)
and not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before her historic record breaking fall loss. The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it. Just watch. Do I have any takers? Trump wrote in a post.
Massie, don’t give a damn. Okay. Say something. He didn’t give a damn. He’s not afraid of Donald Trump. This was his post. Unless I get a Lombardi Monday that causes me to forget what I’ve witnessed the past 12 years, I’ll be a no on the CR this week. It amazes me that my colleagues and many of the public fall for the lie that we will fight another day. Senator Mike Lee came out and defended Massie.
I have nothing but profound respect for representative Thomas Massey, has worked worked harder than perhaps any member of Congress to bring federal spending under control. He might vote differently on this matter than most, but if he does so, he’ll have a really good reason. I’m a huge fan. We’re back here again. We’re back here again. You know, it’s you know, it’s like he has these episodes. It’s like
Like that, what’s his name there? Jim Jim Kerry, when he doesn’t take his medication and me, myself, and Irene, and he all of sudden starts, comes a completely different person acts like a complete jerk. Thomas Massey is a good guy. He is a good guy. I don’t trust these Republicans as far as I can throw him here. Here’s case in point is that you got about 20
20 Republicans 2021 House Republicans led by New York Republican Andrew Garbarino. They wrote a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee basically urging urging them to keep Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and all of the tax credits that are in there for green crap to stay in place. Why? Well,
(08:45.71)
sure many of these tax credits are going to boondoggles in these states where these guys come from. These are representatives that come from blue states. Blue states, they’re Token conservatives coming out of these blue states and they’re saying, no, no, no, no, no. We want our tax credits for our boondoggles. We don’t want these things to go away. And if you read the letter, it goes through, oh, you know, these companies.
are making investments and doing things based upon tax credits. Well, if they’re a business that’s based upon tax credits, they should probably go away in my book. And again, this is what’s going to happen. This is the horse trading that’s gonna take place up until September and nothing gets done. I was glad to see Marco Rubio slashing 83 % of US aid.
programs and he thanked Elon Musk for all of the things that they’ve uncovered but that’s fine you slash those programs where’s the money going now?
Where’s the money going? You slash the programs, here’s a good opportunity. Here you go, spending bill. Write it out.
Right now. Cut the spending. For crying out loud. There’s an opportunity. You cut it. But no, it’s gonna linger. It’s gonna linger like you had little slush funds that they had. They had slush fund money back from, I remember TARP. It’s slush fund money that their governments are still living off from COVID. It’s the same crap again and again and again. So yeah, I’m sorry Mr. President. I’m with Thomas Massey. I’m with Rand Paul.
(10:26.158)
This is just stupid. Again, all you suckers out there, suckers! You’re a bunch of suckers. You’re a bunch of suckers. It’s the same crap again and again and again. You just told us, you just told up, no, up, no, September, no, no, no, we can’t do it. We’re gonna push it, push it, okay? After the election, after the election, what’d you do? Up, no, no, no, we’re gonna push it until after the inauguration or push it to March. Up, no, March comes along, no, we’re gonna push it to September. Watch Dog on wallstreet.com.
