Too Big to Jail: How Big Banks Pay Fines and Walk Away
(00:00.522)
How the big banks get away with murder for years and years. I basically explained to you how the system works. And this is early 2000s. We talked about basically paying your way out and indulgence paid to the powers that be in order to get away from doing time. Again, the only people that ever really get in trouble.
at the big banks. You get in trouble if you work at a big bank if you happen to rip off another big bank or the big bank you’re working for. They throw the book at you. Anything else, pay a fine and they walk away. people, you’ll hear that all the time. It’s corporation, corporation paid a fine. Corporation,
is a tax ID number and a logo. Corporations not, they can’t steal, they can’t rip people off, they can’t do any of these things. They can’t commit murder. People do that. And people that work at these big companies are never held accountable. I want to lay out a scenario how it works. I’m gonna use Jeffrey Epstein, for example. Use Jeffrey Epstein, because again, Mr.
Financial advisor Jeffrey Epstein had no licenses, didn’t conduct any trades, all sorts of stuff, had, you know, did some funky things at some of these big banks. Okay? So we’ll play game here. You’re running compliance at a big bank, big bank. Again, your job as a compliance officer is to make sure, make sure that your employees are following
the rules. Now, again, some compliance officers are better than others, obviously, but again, you know, you want them to make sure that again, you’re supposed to do your job, protect the customers, follow everything that’s out there. Okay, so we’ll go back in time. Epstein is doing all sorts of funky business, funky transactions at XYZ Bank.

Okay, the compliance officer is like, hmm, this doesn’t look right. These things, this is unusual. This doesn’t make any sense. So the compliance officer writes this up, writes this up, writes up a completely thorough report, saw the patterns, the things that were taking place. Again, this is just about Epstein. This is the same thing that happens with
Money laundering with drug cartels doesn’t make any difference. It shows up. It’s not that difficult to spot if you really know what to look for. So what happens?
hands in the report, all of a sudden, okay, the report gets flagged by the higher-ups? No, no, no, no, the compliance officer gets flagged.
Yeah, what do mean? Well again? She’s got to keep her mouth shut You’re gonna have to turn you gotta you gotta know what to brush underneath the rug and then it will get Get sent off to HR And they’ll come up with something like oh this compliance officer. There’s a just culture issues here We’ve got some you know, it’s it doesn’t not a very good fit again. This happens
HR departments again, okay? You got compliance officers that are too good at their job. You better send them over to human resources. Gotta get rid of that compliance officer. So again, they do. Do in business as usual. Why? Well, it’s profitable. It’s enormously profitable to the big bank. Doesn’t matter which one it is.

But you see eventually the big bank gets caught or they got to pay up and it’s almost like kicking money up to the big boss in a mafia and they got to pay some fine, 25 million, 50 million, 75, whatever it may be. That my friends I’ve explained to you before is that’s a cost of doing business. You see the big number.
You see the big number, they put out that big number. Media oftentimes cover it, you have to look for it. Maybe it’ll be in the Wall Street Journal and you’re like, there’s justice. I got a big fine they had to pay. What?
Big fine? No. No, it’s like a, again, I equate it to the FedEx truck in New York City. FedEx truck in New York City, UPS truck in New York City has to make deliveries, has to double park, gets tickets. Tickets are a cost of doing business for FedEx and UPS in New York City. That’s all they are, okay?
It’s priced into the delivery part. That’s all it is. And again, the same thing happens again and again and again. And that’s how they get away with murder. That’s what too big to fail has allowed. This is what happens here in this country. Nobody is held responsible. Pay a fine, walk away. Watchdogonwallstreet.com.
