The Man Who Invented the Internet Takes on Social Media
(00:00.522)
Yes, the man who invented the internet, Al Gore. I haven’t heard from Al in some time. We haven’t heard from him. I don’t know. He’s, he’s saying that right now that people having access to information via social media outside the mainstream media is bad and is a threat to democracy.
Again, he was talking about this at the climate change conference. Of course, he had to show his face there. Basically, he’s got a point, but I’m going to explain why. Listen, the algorithms that control social media put people into an essence, an echo chamber. They feed you what you want to hear.
They can feed in to your biases. They’re designed to do that. I mean, anybody uses social media, you get it. You may click on something from time to time. All of a sudden you’re getting a barrage of advertisements from this company, that company. So he’s got a point there. Where he goes wrong is, is the only information that he wants fed to the general public is the information that he approves of. And again,
How long ago was it where we were, you know, they basically were censoring any sort of anybody out there challenging COVID orthodoxy that was being pushed by the federal government and Fauci, you get canceled. How many times did I get put in Facebook jail because of some of the comments that we’re making going against Fauci, going against what the government, the narrative was at that point in time.
Um, so again, that’s the issue we have. I mean, when I suggest to people all the time, when it comes to your consumption, cause I get this question, I say, you know, Chris, what do you read? What do you look at every single day? I throw people off. I’m like, yeah, do I read the New York times every day? Even though I disagree with 99.9% of their editorials and the people that write there. Do I read Al Jazeera every single day? Am I looking at papers throughout Europe to give alternative perspectives?

That’s how you grow. Um, you got, you surround yourself with people that think the exact same way you do it. They don’t challenge you, um, or challenge your way of thinking. You become a lazy thinker. You become very lazy. You need to be able to, uh, articulate your points, take on challenges from others, learn from others. What’s that old line? Um, was it a wise, wise man learns from a fool and a fool.
learns from no one. So yeah, I can’t stand the algorithms, but most certainly, I don’t want to be spoon-fed information from Al Gore, Fauci, or any of the mainstream media outlets. We know how that’s going to work out. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
