Stop Making Excuses…MOVE!
(00:00.554)
It’s a time when you have to stop making excuses and you just need to move. People hold themselves back all the time. Now, what am I talking about here? I’m privileged. I get phone calls, emails from business owners all over the country. We have countless business owners, small business owners from everywhere, all sorts of places. And yeah, and many blue states out there where I, Chris, I don’t know what,
to do. This is terrible. Case in point. This is a story out of California where basically California, they want to, they basically want to dictate to fast food restaurants how much they should pay. And right now it’s up to $20 an hour. They’re trying to repeal this law by referendum, but they’ve been threatened.
by the California legislature, if they try to go through with that, they’re gonna make it that much worse. These like mafia tactics. Speaking of mafia, you know what? It just came to mind. Yeah, he’s a great scene in Godfather 1 where Johnny Fontaine, he’s upset, he wants that picture, it’s gonna put him back on top, but Mr. Waltz who owns the studio doesn’t like him and he’s whining. He’s whining to the Godfather Don Corleone and he kind of grabs him.
smacks him upside the head and says, you can act like a man, stop whining. Okay, anyway, listen, this is my little smack upside the head. People, I know it’s hard. Trust me, tell me anything I don’t know. I know it’s hard, but in my experience, people unwilling to pick themselves up, move, change the locales is, it’s…
It holds yourself back. You end up making every excuse in the entire book on why you should stay and struggle in wherever you are. And let’s just be honest, people, if the environment is not good, if the environment is not conducive to business, why would you stay there? Why? It makes no sense. I talked about this before, in the Thomas Jefferson discuss the states.

being little laboratories in regards to where things are tried out. There comes a point in time where you need to pick up and move. And again, it’s sub-referencing again. There was a great comedic, one of my favorite stand-up comedians from the 1980s, Sam Kinison, where it was at the time where there was all the aid that was going to Africa. I think it was Ethiopia at the time. Remember, it was a We Are the World and USA for Africa and Live Aid.
And he’s making kind of a joke about that. He was actually making fun of Sally Struthers at the time. And he suggested in this comedic bit, in the way that he does where he yells and screams, to not send them food, not to send them money, to send them U-hauls and move them to where the food is. Well, you know what? If business sucks where you are and you don’t
see it changing. And again, you can be your own do it. I talk about being your own do it yourself economist, but you could be your own do it yourself politician as well. Any times I’ve warned people, I can see the writing on the wall and how difficult it is to open up shop in certain places. And I’m like, don’t do it. Don’t do it. It’s not getting better. It’s getting worse. Go, go somewhere where you’re going to be wanted. Okay. Where capitalism is applauded, where is applauded. Nothing wrong with getting up and moving. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
