Making Sense of the Chaos in Iran (When No One Else Will)
(00:00.62)
Making sense out of the current chaos in Iran. First, I’m gonna start off with an apology. I’m gonna apologize because I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to really do this. Again, one of the things that really makes me happy as a host and kind of just our general in our careers, what we do when it comes to money and stories here is when people give us credit for being able to break things down and explain them in simple terms.
This is extraordinarily hard, extraordinarily difficult with the various different stories and messages that are coming out. I came to mind today, I got to do my sub-reference, was back when I was in college and I was studying abroad in Italy and they had us sit down and watch the Fellini film, Adolci Vita, and trying to get my arms around that. And again, this is worse.
And this is just over the past weekend. And I’m to be straight up and honest. You’re not getting really any help from anybody in the media. The performances by the likes of Laura Ingram and Sean Hannity and all the sick of fans out there. mean, they they they’re doing what they’re No, no critical thinking, no looking at history.
And in fact, I’m going to even actually in this one, I’m to go after a guy that I’ve. And I’ve been a big fan of, but a customer of his. I bought his books, read his books. He’s an excellent historian. It’s Victor Davis Hansen. He actually did a recent podcast talking about Israel being our greatest ally. And I thought it was one of the most vapid. I couldn’t believe it came from him. It was it was short. And I mean, he usually
goes into great detail. And again, I’m going to break this all down for you as best I possibly can. We’re going to be bouncing all over the place. So you got to pay close attention here. The president right now the president right now is none too happy. None too happy with our European allies. NATO, NATO allies, US allies rebuffed Trump’s demand for help.
(02:27.55)
opening the straight of our moves. Germany, Australia and Japan say they won’t be joining us efforts while the UK and France say they are willing to discuss options. But as it stands right now, I don’t think they’re doing anything. He had the one of the French top military guys basically cracking a joke about trying to know, book a you know, book a dance night and dinner on the Titanic after it already got hit by the iceberg. So and again, you’re getting blowback.
from the usual suspects. I’m gonna just throw this out there to everybody. wasn’t two months ago. It wasn’t two months ago when the president of the United States was threatening to take over. He actually said it. He was discussing using force to take over a part of a country, Denmark, well, taking over Greenland, which is a part of Denmark.
which is a part of NATO. He also, and we covered us here on the program was, very flippant in talking about the, the military efforts that NATO has done. Again, the, NATO has, has come together once and it’s history one time, one time. And that was for us after nine 11.
and the president kind of poo-pooed the efforts there. I went off on a massive rant here on the program because it was downright embarrassing because kids died.
Kids died from other countries and again, he didn’t even apologize for what he said. What we did in Iran, what we’re doing in Iran, there was no attack on the United States. This is a war of choice. It’s a war of choice. And I’m sorry, we didn’t even talk.
(04:36.856)
to our allies about it. We didn’t even discuss it with them. And we can kind of go back to the lead up to the Iraq war with George W. Bush. He remember him trying to put together, we talked about this on the program, put together that coalition of the willing. Some participated, some didn’t.
Some didn’t and again back then at that point in time, remember we talked about it was Spain and Portugal which were leading the charge back then. But again, I remember back in the day. Oh yeah, I mean again, we were going after France on Fox News and all right, here we gotta go. We gotta make sure we take French fries off the menu at the congressional cafeteria. They’re now called Freedom Fries. Honestly, we kind of embarrass ourselves with our stupidity, quite frankly.
The reality is, reality is, Iran, Iran is basically picking and choosing who can go through the straight of Ramos. I was one of the heads, I don’t if it was a German Chancellor, I can’t forget who it was, somebody high up in the German government cycle, what are we gonna do? You’ve got the entire power of the United States Navy right there. What’s the point of us sending over some ships? You guys can’t even handle it.
right now. mean, what else is going to be done? No one’s going to send ships through there. At this point in time, what is it’s kind of like you’re trying to build an entourage.
You know, basically saying, what’s the point here? What’s the mission? Because nobody’s going to be taking their ships through there. We’re not taking our ships through there. Yesterday, Trump gave a lengthy press con. I don’t know what was going on. went on a myriad of different topics and I watched the entire thing and
(06:49.258)
I mean, you have to be a true believer in this guy and MAGA to walk away after watching that and, you know, with a smile on your face, feeling confident about the direction the country is going. Spent, spent quite a bit of time talking about his frickin’ ballroom and marble floors and gold. He talked about Cuba.
talked about Cuba and how he can take Cuba whenever he wants to take Cuba. And then he said Cuba is an island with great weather. They don’t get hurricanes there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Unfair for Iran to fight back and then there was like a like a it like about maybe a 20 minute
bit of discourse he was he was going back and forth on when it came to Europe and their involvement. And first he said, No, no, they’re not European. I don’t understand. They’re not going to help. And then maybe 15 minutes later, he said that there are all these countries are really enthusiastic. They’re really enthusiastic about helping out. They can’t wait to help out again. You have to go watch yourself. I’m not making this up. And then
(08:38.902)
changed his mind again. Gotta go back in time. Let’s go back to Trump on March 12th saying that the entire leadership of Iran has finished. US has won the war. Yesterday, he talked about the how great the Iranian leadership is. He’s dealing with very smart people, very high IQ people. He said they’re not Jasmine Crockett people.
He was asked by what’s his name there? Doocy from Fox. Can we wrap this war up this week? Trump said, yeah, sure. Doocy asked, will we? Trump says, I don’t think so. Pulling some other things again, there’s so much stuff I’ve been gathering over the course of weekend. I didn’t cover this yesterday because I still I still can’t even get my arms.
around the various different directions that this is going on. And you actually you actually have various different sycophants out there saying this is by design. Right. He said on the Air Force one on the way back from I know Mar-a-Lago other nations should keep the Strait of Hormuz open and maybe we should not even be there. Maybe we shouldn’t be there at all. We have a lot of oil.
(10:08.238)
then talked about talked about Ukraine. And, you know, maybe we should just stop with Ukraine. We’re not obligated, said Trump. Well, we kind of are obligated to some degree. We are I’m not a fan of what took place where we’re, you know, with this entire thing. But again, you go back.
in time, you Ukraine, again, I talked about this before, you know, what, what country in their right mind would want to ever give up their nukes? Ukraine did. Ukraine had the third largest stockpile of nukes after the Cold War. They agreed to give up all those nukes. It was called the Budapest Memorandum of 1994.
and under this agreement, basically voluntarily surrendered their stockpile. In return, the United States, UK, and Russia provided security assurances promising to respect Ukraine’s existing borders, refrain from the threat or use of force against Ukraine, provide assistance if Ukraine should become a victim of an act of aggression.
(11:33.806)
Again, the loophole in this is that the document uses the term security assurances rather than security guarantees doesn’t legally bind us to do anything. I got again, I’ve got a lot more. We’ve to go over here. He’s got to stay away. Please stay away from the truth. Social and social media put out a tweet. War was started by Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden.
And we’ve been fighting it for over 47 years now. 47 years ago, Barack Hussein Obama was what 17 years old. So it wasn’t started by him. I’m putting an end to it because I am the peace president this week. I’ll be creating the Hormuz Peace Board where our so-called coward NATO allies are not welcome. Many real allies have already expressed desire to join this once in a lifetime opportunity to secure the
Hormuz for peace. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Okay.
Then then this as well I can’t it’s That’s I’ve said guys. I know I’m bouncing around I you know, and I do apologize I do apologize, but it’s just there’s a lot to unwrap here. That’s why you never nobody in the media is doing it When he said he heard that they were sending missiles to the UAE Qatar Saudi Arabia Kuwait and getting hit Bahrain He said no one expected that to happen
wrong. Wrong. Anybody in their right mind knew that that was most certainly an option on the table. In fact, one of your national security advisors that you fired, you fired because Laura Loomer told you to wrote a lengthy paper basically saying this is what they are going to do.
(13:42.19)
He claimed to have spoken with an ex-president. An ex-president and he wouldn’t name who it was. Again, I don’t know why he just says things like this. Reached out to every ex-president and they all denied speaking with them. Lebanon.
Lebanon, it’s kind of flipping regards to Lebanon with the bombings that are taking place right now and what Israel doing. He said, well, the Lebanese are used to Lebanon being bombed. And basically, it’s like, it’s kind of like Ukraine. People live there and I don’t know why. You had the secretary of Treasury, Scott Besant, and this was yesterday.
on CNBC saying that the United States is allowing Iranian oil tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
(14:55.416)
So, okay, we’re letting Russia sell their oil. There’s no more sanctions on their oil. And we’re allowing the Iranian ships to go through because they’re scared. How should I put this? Shitless of what’s going to happen with the oil markets. And I want to remind people there’s smaller countries around the world. Again, you’re not getting the Sri Lanka is actually having national holidays from using energy right now. And you’re going to see more of that.
poor countries out there that can’t pay up for energy are going to be hurting because of this. So yes, are allowing Iran, who we are at war with or excursion with or whatever it may be, to continue to sell.
European nations have pulled all of their anti ISIS troops out of Iraq. They had various different European nations had anti ISIS troops that are there. They are pulling them out. This I just got the director of National Intelligence National Counter Terrorism Center. Joseph Kent, director National Counter Terrorism Center just resigned.
After much reflection, I’ve decided to resign from my position as the Director of National Counterterrorism Center effective. Today, I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation. It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. boy. boy. They’re going to be coming after him. Trust me, I get this. get. The amount of times I get called an anti-Semite, it’s crazy.
I support the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020 and 2024, which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation. In your first administration, you understood better than any modern president how decisively
(17:13.862)
apply military power without getting us drawn into never ending wars. You demonstrated this by killing Qassam Soleimani and by defeating ISIS. Early in this administration, high ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign that wholly undermined your America First platform and sowed pro-war sentiments to encourage a war with Iran. The echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States.
and that you should strike now. There was a clear path to victory. This was a lie and it’s the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again.
(18:02.222)
stories coming out there, are we, you know, looking at becoming a rogue state? I have to talk a little bit about this as well. This was actually sent to me. I don’t listen to his podcast, I’ve read his books, but it was sent over to me and basically this is a guy I have great deal of respect for, his writings, but not this Victor Davis Hansen podcast on
short, it like eight minutes. Basically saying that Israel is our greatest ally. And his point was is basically the fact that their military is bigger than France’s and Germany’s and the UK’s and hmm. First thought came to mind. And I would say to Professor Hanson, I’m saying how many
How many Israeli soldiers were part of our efforts in Afghanistan? How many Israeli soldiers were a part of the coalition, the willing to go into Iraq? How many bases do we have in Israel? That’d be none, none and none. Not loud.
How much money do we continue to give to this ally of ours? Just give.
It is a welfare state.
(19:45.686)
It’s a welfare state. They are on American welfare. We just give them money for their military. And I could go on and on and on in regards to this and don’t even get me involved into the Liberty and a myriad of other things. Things that I’ve covered here on the program when it comes to.
Criminality and financial fraud and boiler room operators that are all over Tel Aviv because that’s the stuff that I have to deal with in my capacity at Markowski Investments and what happens to people. this 47 they’ve been war at us for 47 years. You understand how stupid and simplistic that is. Do you have any idea how really?
Stupid and simplistic.
That is.
And I explained here, we did a lengthy podcast talking about what happened in Iran and what we did with the Brits and overthrowing a democratically elected government. Because again, we always tell ourselves that we are so star-spangled awesome and we support democracy. No, we don’t. Okay. No, we don’t. That my friends is
(21:17.137)
Bullshit Okay, anybody who actually picks up a book or two every now and then actually realizes that we don’t always support Democracy and that was the case in Iran. I want to I want to tell another little bit of a history of something that we were involved with to Never got a lot of coverage Never got a lot of coverage at the time
And media was different back then, but I don’t even know if we get coverage today. You do realize. You do realize that Saddam Hussein. Saddam Hussein, well, he he invaded Iran. He invaded Iran, the I I ran Iraq war went on for eight years. Eight years and.
one of the ugliest.
Conventional wars of the 20th century by far You had well basically it ended in a stalemate Everybody went back again a lot and then it’s all these things and in stalemates and it released the stalemates millions of people die But it goes really
Nowhere. Nowhere. Total deaths, they’re saying between, or anywhere between half a million to a million military and civilian wounded up to two million. It was the deadliest conventional war since World War II. There was some border disputes.
(23:15.374)
Saddam didn’t like the ayatollah and the 79 Revolution was worried that you know, the Sunnis within Iraq were gonna start rising up The Saddam Hussein thought Iran was weak and was gonna take advantage of the situation And again, you got to remind everybody that the Iranians okay again you to ask you would ask people on the street dude man on the street interviews
I can almost say that almost the entire country would think that Iranians are Arab. They’re not. They’re not. Anyway, let’s just go into some of the things that were done in there and the international involvement here. And this is just how bad it was. This war actually went back to, again, it’s human beings.
trench warfare, was reminiscent of World War One. Combine that with 1980s technology tanks. Remember, Sanams, Scud missiles and
Chemical weapons. Iraq became one of the largest users of chemical weapons in modern history. The Soviet Union supported Iraq. France supported Iraq. Soviet Union was the main arms supplier. France gave missiles and Mirage jets. We removed Iraq from a terrorism list and we allowed
dual-use chemicals and Of course you had the Saudi Arabia and Kuwait they gave money They gave loans You see how messed up this part of the world was Kuwait Great not too far after the end war went so now but do we invaded Kuwait for crying out loud West Germany gave chemical precursors
(25:27.198)
Yeah. Interesting. Who supported Iran?
Israel.
(25:38.52)
Syria, Libya, and some black market sources.
Yeah, and if you actually go and you take a look at, you know, the things that were you talking sarin gas mustard gas?
(26:01.762)
You think that we’re really gonna be welcome in these parts of the world? You know, I’ve said this for some time.
going to make really make America great again is we just need to start minding our own frickin business. Glenn Greenwald put this out, put this out and again it’s things that I’ve mentioned before here on the program. There hasn’t been a single country that has declared war
or preemptively attacked the United States since World War II. And again.
Our militaries kick ass. No one’s going to really do that. But over that period of time, we have been involved in over 20 military actions, causing total of anywhere between five to 10 million deaths. The Korean War, which is still going on. Yep, it’s still going on. know armistice, but it’s still there. OK, two to three million deaths. Thirty six thousand five hundred U.S.
Vietnam
(27:22.062)
one to three million deaths, 58,200 US. George H.W. Bush’s Gulf War, 50,000 deaths, 300 US. Afghanistan, 240,000 deaths, 2,400 US. Iraq War, 1,000,4500 US. And then we can throw in Kosovo, Libya.
ISIS, Grenada, Panama, and now,
(28:02.755)
I-I-I-I-
What and again, i’m asking this honestly, what exactly have we we achieved?
from all of this.
(28:18.126)
I’m watching the same lines of complete utter bullshit.
from politicians all over TV. There’s gonna be a mushroom cloud over the United States, mushroom cloud. Same bullshit. is it? Joni Ernst, we have to fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them here.
the same thing again and again and again.
I’m trying okay. I’m gonna said you have a different opinion. That was fine
That’s fine. I just find it really, really difficult to get my arms around all this, the various different statements, and I’m sticking with my pray for an off ramp.
(29:16.206)
