House Republicans Expand Welfare??
(00:00.662)
House Republicans, go ahead and expand welfare. Again, this is how pathetic and sad the Republican Party is. Various different aspects of the 2017 tax deal with Donald Trump expiring. And the Republican Party felt that they wanted to, in essence, continue with those tax breaks.
various different provisions for business out there. And the deal that they cut was to, in essence, expand welfare. A lot of people saying this is a bipartisan deal and this is good and this is what Congress needs to do. Now this is a crap deal. It’s garbage. First and foremost, tax write-offs. Tax write-offs. And again, I don’t have any problem with the things that they’re doing in regards to…
making it easier to deduct research and development for certain businesses, whatnot. I get all that, but all that stuff is temporary. The one thing about welfare is once it starts, it never stops, it’s permanent. So what we’ve got right now, okay, and the American Enterprise Institute actually showed how this expanded child tax credit,
Actually, this is how stupid it is. And again, this is this is this is our welfare system and how dumb it is. And it’s not just in this, it’s in other aspects as well. Actually favors people who are getting this child tax credit refundable, by the way. Means you could be paying not a dime in taxes and you’re getting a check from the government. That’s welfare. It favors part time work over full time.
work. Again, last time I checked what social safety nets are supposed to be about is supposed to put people on the path to full time work to prosperity to work their way up in the system, rather than get them addicted to government checks and handouts. Here is the example. A parent of three. Parent of three earning $20,000 a year.
(02:26.978)
That’s $20 an hour working 20 hours a week. Now, if this parent switches to a full-time job, it’s rather working 20 hours a week, works 40 hours a week at $20 an hour, the total household income would only increase by $3,400.
(02:55.682)
You say, how does it make any sense? How could that be the case? Well, again, this bill hands out larger child credit checks at lower incomes. And this is only a part of the other benefits that include the earned income tax credit and food stamps. All of these things phase out as income rises.
So basically, why in the world are you going to work an additional 20 hours a week, 52 weeks out of the year for an increase in pay of only $3,400? You’re just going to continue to get your government checks. It doesn’t make any sense. And this is the problem with how we handle handouts and giveaways and welfare here in this country. And again the Republicans are out there telling you that this is a great and wonderful deal. Right. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
