Hollywood vs. Trump: Here’s The Deal with the Movie Tariffs
(00:00.6)
Tariffs on movies? Well, yeah, I’ll read you the tweet.
The movie industry in America is dying. A fast death. Other countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood and many other areas within the United States are being devastated. This is a concerted effort by other nations and a national security concern. We’re gonna begin the process of instituting 100 % tariff on any and all movies coming into our country that are produced in foreign lands.
We want movies made in America again. Okay. First and foremost, it was funny. They were talking about how Netflix was tariff proof. Nine more, nine more. What’s going to happen here? And you’re gonna get pushback from Hollywood. You’re gonna get pushback.
the actors and actresses and people involved because you really want everything to go CGI? Because it will. It’s bad enough. Let me give you an example. I try to read at night. I try not to watch too much TV, but every now and then I’m just exhausted. you get a better chance of spotting a unicorn, finding anything decent or
You know, it’s good as far as movies are concerned. At least I have a difficult time. So I like Tom Hardy and Tom Hardy, guess had a, and again, I can’t even believe he agreed to this. Some Netflix movie called Havoc. I started watching it. It was obvious that the whole thing was basically computerized. I barely got through a half an hour, but it was absolute garbage. Garbage. All done pretty much on a computer.

You’re gonna get more of that. Not to mention, are you gonna go about determining how much to tariff? What if some of the movie is filmed overseas? How is that gonna work? Are you gonna partially tariff, let’s say Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible because it had some foreign locales where they had to film?
What do you think foreign countries are going to do? I want to remind everybody that the bulk, the bulk of the revenues from Hollywood pictures comes from overseas. Showing the film to the entire world. Again, not really making much sense, but hey, that’s okay. Howard Lutnick said he’s on it. He put out a tweet and said, we’re on it. We’re on it. Yeah.
I can’t wait to see how this one’s gonna work out. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
