H-1B Visa Fight Exposes a Bigger Problem
(00:00.44)
So the courts shut down, shut down, the H1B visa fee that Donald Trump looked to institute was $100,000 to get an H-1B visa. listen, I I I I happen to agree with the president in regards to the abuses when it comes to H1B visas. We’ve been covering this.
Over 10 years. actually I remember it was about 10 years ago, actually, when in Florida we found out that Disney was just laying people off at Orlando. And I’m not talking about the parks, I was talking about accountants and other people that were working for the company, and they were being replaced by people from India, from other countries, H1B visas, and they were being paid less. the judge in this case was a judge.
In Massachusetts, when Obama appointed judge said that the president overstepped his bounds because in essence it was a tax. And a tax has to come from obviously Congress. the president said no, it was a regulatory fee. Whatever, neither here nor here. And this is the problem that I have, quite frankly, with the way.
In essence, I I I don’t know if the president just felt that he couldn’t go to Congress for something like this. That might be the case. but these types of things, and this is this is the problem when we govern, this is the problem we govern by executive order, whether it be Donald Trump, whether it be Joe Biden, no student loans, all this stuff. It’s not how the country is supposed to work.
Again, we’ve gotten to a point in time where, you know, I do declare, I do decree, executive order, institutes, courts knock it down, new administration comes in, all sorts of problems. no way to run a country. It’s not. Hey, hey, listen, if we were a kingdom, or you know, you we had a situation where you were gonna have you know, a Fidel Castro be in charge for decades. Hey, hey, can.

run with something like that. But it’s very difficult for any sort of business or anybody to actually run anything if the rules are bloody changing all the time. This is why, you know, it’s important. The founders understood this, you go through Congress with these things. With that being said, that that’s a discussion for another day. I have no problem whatsoever with immigration. I made this perfectly clear.
Legal immigration is a wonderful thing. Wonderful thing. You you get quality people that want to become Americans. I’m I’m thrilled with that. You assimilate to our society, you pay your taxes. I don’t have any none. Zip zero zilchanada. We should encourage high-quality people. However, when we run things.
Let’s make no bones about it, okay? The H one B visa program.
First off, it it it benefits companies and businesses out there because they can pay less than the prevailing wage. I know they say that they’re not doing that. I’m gonna go out and call bullshit on that. You know it, and I know it. Not to mention the fact. Not to mention the fact. If you don’t think it obscures the labor labor market, then I’ll give you an example. you get hired, you’re from I’ll throw use India for example.
Let’s say a business up the street wants to hire you. You’re really good at your job. You’re kicking ass. and the business up the street wants to hire you. Can’t. They can’t hire you. that business, for all intents and purposes, pretty much owns your ass. How does that create a dynamic labor market? Everyone is supposed to compete here.

I know that the tech people out there, the tech companies love this stuff. Why? Because it’s cheap labor. They always throw out, they always throw out the the arguments. we can’t run our business unless we have these high-skilled workers. Okay, well then you know what? let’s not make them H1B visas. You need those high skilled workers. They say, hey, find high-skilled workers that want to become Americans. Give them the same.
workers’ rights as any American would have. Again, why not? Problem solved. But again, the businesses don’t want that either. They’re they’re in a a very interesting situation. With that being said, with that being said, I I’m gonna play devil’s advocate, if you will, on the side of many tech companies and businesses. And again, I I I’m not hiring in that arena.
You know, they they keep saying up and down, I’m gonna assume that they’re right. I’m gonna assume, you know what, we can’t find Americans that can do this. I roll my eyes because I find that that’s absolutely ridiculous. But anyway, we also have to step up our game. And I’ve talked about education here in this country. You take a look at test scores and how they continue to, you know, get flushed down the toilet. We have do better to do better. we really do. Again, I I’ll even give an example where they were kind of right.
They were kind of right. Yay, building the Taiwan semiconductor factory out in Arizona, they have to import workers. They have to import workers to that factory because we don’t have them here. We don’t have that type of skilled labor. We don’t educate for that. Yeah, it’s our entire system. They I I don’t know what they’re, you know.
Nonsense. They’re they’re teaching kids in schools or whatever it may be. We’ve been pointing people obviously in the wrong direction. We really have to step up our game and improve. Actually I’ll do another podcast on that today. Real interesting story. But anyway, n neither here nor there. hundred thousand dollar fee.

I again I I I don’t I don’t I think that was kind of a stopgap, and I think there was some politics that was involved with that. you need the workers. You need the work again. Let them come here and let them compete and allow them to get paid just as much as any American. But and again, this is this we’re talking about skilled labor. The the same thing holds true.
When it comes to what we’re doing with migrant labor. And the fact that don’t tell me that they’re the migrant workers that have come here. I’ve watched it firsthand. Okay? And again, I’ll bounce-I I live here in the state. Well, not in Florida right now, but I live, my home base is the state of Florida. A lot of agriculture here in this state. I know I’ve told this before. Is churches all over the state constantly raising money to help out migrant.
Workers. Again, it’s essentially slave labor here in this country. It is what it is. And again, it’s not right. Our entire system has been a mess for a long period of time. With that being said, what was our what was our labor participation rate? Remember that from jobs Friday, jobs, jobs, jobs Friday. Sixty-one percent.
Again, we’re our own worst enemy. We are. Don’t tell me you can’t. People understand you wanna rig the system. You don’t want work here in this country. Quite frankly, you don’t have to.
It’s a problem too. Watchdog on Wall Street dot com.
