Are Trump’s Tariffs TOO TOUGH On China?
(00:00.812)
What does China make? How much do they take? NASA Nicholas Taleb put this out and again, he’s using San Francisco fed data. On average for goods sold in the United States that are made in China for a hundred bucks, China gets 12%. The rest, the 88 bucks design, shipping, wholesale.
retail, branding, whatever it may be, that comes here. So, we got 150 % tariffs on China right now. Let’s say demand, demand for those goods drops by 50%, okay? If China makes $12 from every 100 bucks, they’re now making six. We were making 88. Now we’re making 44.
Who does this hurt? Actually, the San Francisco vet, they actually highlight certain products. Okay. They break out certain products that are made in China and what the take is. A t-shirt that costs $40 here in the United States that’s made in China. China gets anywhere between five to $7. Wow. That’s about 12 to 18 % right there.
Okay, rest comes here. An iPhone, about a thousand bucks we’ll say. China’s share, 10 to $15, that’s one to 1.15, one to 1.5%, that’s minuscule what China gets. A bicycle that sells for $800. China gets 100 to 150, that’s again 12 to 18%. A toy.
$20 retail price, China gets $2 to $4, which is a little bit more 10 to 20%.

They’re making the item there in a factory. mean, shouldn’t they be entitled to something? And again, you know, to everybody out there is like, took their jams. They took their jams. took their factories. Okay. We did lose factories. We did lose jobs. But again, this has happened throughout history with labor flows. And guess what? New jobs were created here in the United States.

Again, let me ask you question. If there was an assembly line that opened up in your town where you live, think about it. How many people do you think you would get applying for work?
I don’t know. I mean, I’m not seeing it. I’m not feeling it, people. I’m really not. So again, you can keep pushing this idea that China wasted and decimated our economy and killed the middle class here in the United States. No. Okay. They’re gaslighting you.
The reason why things have gotten more expensive here in the United States, it’s not because of China, it’s because of us and all the money printing that we’ve done and all the ridiculous spending that we’ve done and because of burdensome regulations and costs that make everything go up. It’s not China. Watchdogandwallstreet.com.
