Apple CEO Shakeup: Tim Cook Steps Down—Can New Leadership Deliver Innovation?
(00:01.614)
Shake up at the top of Apple. Tim Cook is going into semi retirement. He’s going to set my retirement. He is going to step down as the CEO of Apple in September. John Ternes, who is the basically head of hardware at Apple, is going to be taking over the company. He turns 50.
years old. Talk a little bit about this Apple. And what first want to talk a little about Tim Cook and his legacy. I have been a little critical of Apple, I’d say a little bit, a lot of it critical of Apple for some time in the same way. In the same way that I am been very critical.
of my New York Yankees. We haven’t won a World Series since 2009. Make the playoffs bloody almost every year. But again, all that matters for Yankee fans is World Series wins. That’s just the reality. Apple. Tim Cook. Why is my critical of Tim Cook at Apple? Well, my criticism comes to the fact that I’m a shareholder, client to shareholders.
Benny’s done me well. I am a customer. I am a big time customer and that’s not gonna change. It’s not gonna change. What Tim Cook was able to do at Apple, again, Steve Jobs’ greatest product, one of the greatest products arguably in the history of world is the iPhone and the various different things that go along with that.
what he was able to do with that product and everything that ties into Apple from the app store to music to TV to AirPods, the whole thing, the whole thing. If I was to describe it, I said Apple is it’s a Gordian knot. The Gordian knot Gordian knot is that one was just Phrygian and it was the middle of Turkey.
(02:30.726)
And they had this massive knot. You couldn’t find the ends. And the prophecy was that whoever could undo the knot would rule all of Asia. Alexander the Great shows up there and he just cuts it. He took over Asia. Anyway, neither here nor there. Once you’re in, you’re in. Once they have you in and then you start
movies and you’re you’re not going in you have your families and you got your photos and they’re all of this stuff bloody genius okay Tim Cook was a genius when it came to that he was a genius when it came to supply lines I mean you could just be the things that Apple was doing prior to the implementation and tariffs and renting out
massive airplanes and shipping product here to the United States private rules. He is on top of his game. One of the best supply chain guys going quite frankly what they were able to pull off. My criticism is. I need something new. I do like it’s like I said I’m like a Yankee fan. Yeah well we’re gonna make the playoffs again this year more than likely. Again I need another World Series product.

Can’t help it. I miss though, I miss the old Steve Jobs, Apple Day conferences and he goes, and one more thing. Well, the one more thing for some time has been, you know, a cooler camera.
(04:20.014)
What else? mean, okay, we got another, I think this is kind of genius. They have a new Mac that’s out. It’s like what, five, 600 bucks, which is a fantastic idea. Supposedly we’re getting a foldable phone. Yay. I don’t know. I know. I was interviewed about.
this today and I was asked about it and I kind of sound like Dr. Evil in Austin Powers. All I ask for is freaking laser beams attached to sharks. surprised I didn’t go with like a flying car or anything like that. But again, conversations I have with people in the tech industry, I’m like, what in the world are they doing there in Cupertino? They got that
Big massive headquarters there. What are you guys working on? I don’t give a crap about the latest emojis that are gonna look like me or anything like that. I don’t care about that. I want new stuff. Sorry. Sorry, because when Apple comes out with new stuff, tends to be pretty good. And again, I’m kind of excited at the fact that you got a guy that’s hardware guy taking
over the reins of this company moving forward. We shall see. We shall see. But without a doubt, they’re positioned well. and one more thing. See that? AI. Because Apple is way behind. Way behind. And they want to tie in AI to Siri. And again, I don’t.
I’ve never used Siri. I know I’m a bit of a Neanderthal, but that’s not the way people were describing the AI and Siri’s version of it. They said it’s not that great. And obviously that’s some of the things that are coming down the road.

What Apple will end up doing because they can is they will look good a deal. Look at a deal with Google and they will white label something and call it Apple if they think it’s going to work and put it in if they just are not coming up with anything quite frankly, that’s what’s probably going to happen when it comes to AI. But yeah, kind of excited.
love to see my flying car. Apple flying car be all over that. But new products would be nice but Tim Cook man made shareholders happy. That’s for darn sure. Watchdog on wallstreet.com
