Socialist Surge, Spineless Moderates, and Why Your Financial Future Is on the Ballot
The Fix Is In, and the Democratic Socialists Are Winning
Let’s just call it what it is. The Democratic Socialists of America are on a roll, and the so-called establishment of the Democratic Party is either cheering them on or too scared to fight back. Hakeem Jeffries, the man who could be the next Speaker of the House, was out there congratulating three DSA insurgents who won primaries in New York City. Complete with photographs.
These are, to put it diplomatically, not people with mainstream economic views. And yet the future face of House Democratic leadership is celebrating their victories. That should tell you something about how this shakes out.
A Few Brave Moderates Are Trying
Give credit where it’s due. Tom Suozzi from Long Island and nine other House Democrats signed the Promise to America, a document that explicitly rejects the radical left’s agenda. A handful of candidates have signed on too. Their core statements:
- We are capitalists, not socialists
- We want safety, not lawlessness
- We are proud of America
And here’s the jaw-dropping part. These completely normal, utterly common-sense statements are now considered a bold political act. That’s the world we’re living in. That’s how far gone the conversation has become.
The Godfather of Grift
You want to understand the DSA? Look at Bernie Sanders. The patron saint of the movement. A man who:
- Has never held a real private sector job in his life
- Owns multiple homes
- Is a multimillionaire
- Spent his entire career railing against the very wealth he accumulated
This is the blueprint. Wear whatever hat the political winds demand. Say whatever the moment requires. Chameleons in socialist clothing. And before anyone accuses me of playing favorites, the same rot exists on the other side. A lot of what passes for conservatism today isn’t Reagan, it isn’t constitutional, and it sure isn’t small government. It’s just a different flavor of career politician chasing power.
Politics as a Career Is the Root Problem
If politics is your career choice, you should not be in politics. Full stop. Politics should mean going to serve your community, doing the work, and then going home to get a real job like everyone else. The moment it becomes a vehicle for personal enrichment and lifetime job security, you’ve already corrupted it.
The granddaddy of modern democratic socialism never had to meet a payroll. Never had to make the tough calls a business owner makes every single day. But he accumulated enormous personal wealth by selling economic ideology to people who are genuinely struggling. That’s the con.
What the Politically Homeless Investor Needs to Know
The traditional Democrat and the traditional Republican are both out in the cold right now. What that means for your financial life:
- Policy unpredictability increases market volatility
- Socialist-leaning platforms push for higher taxes on capital, dividends, and estates
- Regulatory expansion raises costs across every industry you invest in
- Government spending surges crowd out private investment and fuel inflation
The Clinton years, whatever you thought of the man personally, were economically centrist by today’s standards. Compare those eight years to what followed and what we’re watching now, and the trajectory becomes clear.
We’ve got a big mess on our hands. And the people making the mess are getting paid very well to do it.
