Long time listeners know, stuff that we’ve been talking about here on our show, what I encourage people to do to get themselves into shape, to exercise, to stay healthy. We’re financial planners here. And I’m here to tell you that, you know what? You’re gonna stay healthy and take care of yourself. That’s a part of your financial plan. You don’t want to have.
unnecessary, undue healthcare costs later on in life in a way, one way doesn’t guarantee it. Okay. But one way of doing that is staying healthy and eating right and regular exercise. Okay. Neither here nor there. Left wing publication out of the UK actually talking about the dark side of exercise. The dark side.
Yes, yes, beware liberals. Beware left -wingers out there. They say getting fit is great, but it could turn you into a right -wing jerk. That’s the actual title of the column. There is a dark side to wellness, which I always for shorthand thought of as political. Getting fit makes you more right -wing.
The mechanism is incredibly simple. You embark on this voyage of self -improvement and more or less immediately see results. You feel stronger and more energetic. Probably your mood lifts and pretty soon you think you are master of your own destiny. You’re still not. By the way, destiny does not care about your step count. But until that fact catches up with you, which it may never, there you are high on self -righteousness. You can tell this has happened to you when you start inhaling performatively like the hero of an on -rand.
