Fox News SETTLES with Dominion for $787Million!
(00:01.062)
Idolatry, the media, and lack of moral compass. Today, I’m gonna weigh in on the Fox News Dominion settlement, and I’m gonna also take us back in time to other situations as well. I’m gonna weigh in on my thoughts and position on the entire thing. Again, full disclosure right here.
(00:31.558)
I’m scheduled to appear on Fox Business on Friday. I don’t know. I mean, they look at my stuff. They look at my podcasts. They may see something, they may not like it. I’m gonna get thrown off the meter. May never get invited back in. I don’t know. I don’t know, but the thing is I don’t care.
(00:52.694)
I don’t care. I never have cared. Let’s go back in time. Can you go to my YouTube page? I have appearances, my television appearances going back where I used to appear on a regular basis. I mean, I was a regular on CNN. It’s back when I lived in Florida. I have to go on a regular basis up to Tampa.
(01:22.614)
Public access station would send me up there all the time. I was on Don Lemon’s program, all of these CNN programs. And again, I was always honest, always honest in the opinions that I gave, what my beliefs were, backing them up in an intelligent manner. I guess I eventually might’ve ticked Dom Lemon off at one point in time. I think it had to do with,
student loan debate that we were having and, you know, producers changed. CNN continued to move further to the left in the aftermath of the whole financial crisis. And I said, that’s it. That’s it. You know, I never heard from those guys again. They didn’t, you know, didn’t like my tact when it came to things. And one would think that, oh, geez, that would be bad for business. That’s bad for…
(02:20.398)
Chris Markowski, the watchdog on Wall Street Radio, show the Markowski family, Markowski Investments, all of that, in essence, free publicity that I got going on those programs is going away.
(02:35.636)
I don’t care.
(02:39.074)
I don’t care. I’m not going to deviate from my belief system, my core values for a quick buck. I’ve explained this before, I’m an Adam Smith capitalist. I believe that business can be conducted, two people can sit down at a table, both can walk away happy.
from a situation, I’m not gonna take a shortcut. I’m not gonna deviate from my belief system for any short term profit or benefit. Eventually, this is one of the values that we have here. We talk all the time. Everything in life that has meaning, value and worth involves work, time and effort. Overcoming obstacles, achieving goals is what life.
is all about things that we consistently talk about here on the program. But short-sighted looks at how to make a quick buck. Eventually, my belief system is going to do more harm than good. Again, that’s also through experience as well. Now, let’s go back to idolatry, part of what I want to talk about today.
Um, again, I, I make this perfectly clear time in time again here on the show that I’m an equal opportunity basher. I look at politicians. I look at them as employees. As I see interesting popped into my time. Heather, they were having that, um, there were that hearing in Manhattan.
(04:33.206)
and you actually had some, you know, families of just terrible victims of violent crime, where Alvin Bragg let the people out of jail. And you had certain Democrats there, Nadler and a couple others on the panel that were basically poo poo in the entire thing. And these people went off on them and pointed out, I said, you don’t talk to me this way. You don’t talk to me this way. You work for me.
(05:00.930)
I’d say the same thing to the President of the United States. We revere these people. And I don’t, again, I guess it’s a human nature thing. I don’t understand this reverence.
(05:16.514)
that needs to be paid to politicians. Do you understand what we broke away from? But again, it’s a part of the fabric of our culture. How much news are we getting now in regards to King Charles coronation? The guy is one of the biggest welfare recipients in the entire world. The entire family, okay, lives off the bloody taxpayers. They don’t have any fricking power.
(05:42.162)
Oh, Royal Wedding, what are they doing? Oh, for crying out loud. Get a fricking life.
(05:48.874)
And I’d say the same thing.
(05:53.774)
to you, you political, do you want to call them, I don’t know, it’s not even political junkies, it’s a wrong word, I gotta think of another phrase for it. People who worship politicians here in the United States, you should be critical of each and every one of them. You should be more critical of the ones that you voted for, because you’re the one that put them into power. Let’s throw, let’s throw Donald Trump.
up there because last week I talked about him on the weekend radio show. Oh my God. See some of the emails that I get. See some of the messages and the emails that I receive. Ah, Chris, you are, you know, they give, you know, they start, you’re a comp, you’re a genius when it comes to finance and all this blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But you know, you got to take the politics out of it. You’re looking like a liberal there. Why?
(06:47.242)
Why? Because I pointed something out that was factual that you didn’t like.
(06:56.846)
Okay, what did I say? You wanna come back and say, what you said was wrong, I disagree with it because of this, this, this, and this. Okay, that’s where a conversation can be started. So it’s where you can have a bit of a discussion. But no, no, no, you don’t get that.
(07:14.070)
You don’t get that. I mean, you gotta ask yourself. Now you people listening right now.
(07:20.002)
You put up these idols.
(07:23.882)
It happens both sides. Again, I remember playing this clip way back when, and actually, it was when I was living in Sarasota, Florida. There’s this woman, Peggy Joseph, is at a Barack Obama rally. It was at Ed Smith Stadiums, where the Baltimore Orioles right now have their spring training. And she came out of it and said it was the greatest moment of her entire life.
And she recognized that if she supports Obama, he’s gonna support her and she’s not gonna have to worry about her car payment or her electric payment or a house payment anymore.
(08:09.726)
And I see things like this and I’m like, really?
(08:14.794)
Really? These are human beings just like you and I. They put their pants on like everybody else. The idolatry has to stop. But let’s kind of take this and let’s move on to the business of media today. It’s interesting to watch how it’s all.
(08:41.870)
changing and transforming and again you can go and you can take a look at all the details behind the scene at Fox News and from the information that was put out there it looks as if Fox News was worried They were worried They were worried that they were going to lose viewers to the upstart television station network
(09:12.630)
And again, it’s kind of interesting as well. I used to appear on Newsmax on a regular basis also. And I don’t know if they got word of some of.
(09:25.134)
call it anti-Trump sentiment. It’s not anti-Trump sentiment, it’s honest Trump sentiment. I give credit where credit is due, I am critical when need be. I don’t worship these people. But again, let’s take a couple steps back. They were worried, I guess it had to do with the call that Fox News made.
(09:51.318)
when it came to Arizona in the election and they felt that it was too early. And again, it didn’t matter.
(10:01.170)
It didn’t matter. And you take a look at some of the internal conversations that was going on with some of these big time Fox News hosts in the evening and it didn’t look good.
(10:19.918)
It didn’t look good at all. Again, these are opinion programs, okay? They are, this is not hard news. These are opinion-based programs in the same sense that you get the same crap on CNN, you get the same crap on MSNBC. They’re all guilty.
They’re all guilty of the same BS, except this time, Fox News and some of the coverage that they had in regards to Dominion hit a private company. Wasn’t just about throwing bullshit out the door. It actually hurt a private company. So they got a case, calling it libel, again.
with some concerns. Well, you know, is it liable? This could be a hit on the First Amendment. People, I mean, again, again, I can be critical of Fox and how they handled this entire Dominion situation. Because again, it’s pathetic and sad if you ask me. I don’t get it.
(11:43.010)
I don’t get it, I’m sorry, I’d rather be honest with people in my feelings. I’m not here, I’ve said this for decades now. I’m not Mary Poppins, there’s no spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down. I do my homework, I have my belief system, I have my moral compass, and I’m going to tell you how I feel and why. Period, the end.
(12:12.914)
Again, if they decide, all right, Chris, you can’t come on Fox and all that, say la vie, such is life. There’s that line, Martin Sheen’s character in the movie Wall Street, where he tells his son, Bud Fox, he says, I don’t go to bed with no whore, I don’t wake up with no whore.
(12:40.826)
I don’t know how you do it, buddy. I don’t know how you live with yourself. Again, some of us can block that out. Some of us can have that ethical bypass. We don’t. We don’t, we don’t have it. But again, and I’m gonna be going after Fox, go after them all. I mean, do you recall, I mean, just in recent history, you had Dan Rather.
(13:10.562)
Dan rather fake but true documents. I mean, can you, they actually said that. He gets fired because it was so egregious at what he did. And the 2004, you know, leading up to the 2004 election between Bush and Kerry, but he gets fired. Then they give him some sort of media award after the fact. And then he became almost like some sort of, you know,
Jedi media person after the fact appearing on everything. He made up a story!
(13:45.834)
They fake documents for crying out loud.
(13:50.794)
Other ones, I’m jogging my memory here. You can go back to, I go back to the first time Bush, Al Gore. Media had information on the fact that George W. Bush when he was at Yale, he got as a kid, he got a DWI or a DWAI. They held that story and they released it right before the election.
(14:18.582)
because they wanted to have that type of impact because they didn’t want George W. Bush to win. Or how about the mainstream media spiking the Monica Lewinsky story? It was Matt Drudge that actually put that out. And we can go on and on and on for crying out loud, all the Russia collusion crap and all the people that they paraded on in regards to that, the lie after lie after lie.
You know, the issue, the issue again, a little different. The fact that it didn’t hit any, in essence, private company. And, you know, the libel laws here in the United States, free speech, if you’re a public figure, they can pretty much say whatever the hell they want about you. And again, the media loves this. They love this and we’re told it’s about free speech. Right? Sure, you can say whatever you want to say, but I’m sorry, I’m a
big believer, if you’re going to say something, you’re gonna defame my family, myself, in any way, shape, manner, form, why should I be able to go after you?
(15:28.470)
Why shouldn’t I, if you’re lying, why shouldn’t I be able to do that? And media is deathly afraid of this. And they’re deathly afraid of this because it’s gonna actually make them have to, I don’t know, do their job.
(15:40.746)
maybe source things to a greater degree. Yeah, you know how difficult my job is here? The amount of reading that I have to do over the course of the day. And it’s gotten, I’m just telling you right now, it’s gotten more difficult over the years. It really has. Yeah, I’m able to take a look at stories and see right through it. Well, sources say this, what sources?
(16:11.050)
And most of the time I’m reading stories, I’m like, ah, you know, what’s the agenda here? What are they trying to push here? What’s the narrative here? Because again, that’s one of the things that we do is we try to dispel narratives, dispel conventional wisdom. What are they trying to get you to do? What are they trying to get you to believe in? I mean, we could even take this out of…
politics, we can talk about this in terms of what the media has done and how they’ve worked hand in hand over the years with both elephants and donkeys to push ridiculous wars on the United States. You ever go to a neighborhood of make believe sometime, kind of what if, I have a book, kind of a what if book over there, things that happened a little bit differently.
Yeah, as far as history is concerned, it’s kind of a, you know, it’s kind of fun reading. But anyway, what if, what if we decided, what if we decided not to engage in World War I, what, what if we decided not to get involved? Kennedy was trying to pull us back from getting involved in Vietnam. What if we decided to not, to not get involved there?
(17:35.726)
You think about what if you’ve been to Washington, DC, you go to the Vietnam Memorial, you see all the names on those walls and you say to yourself, geez, you know, what might’ve, this wonderful group of human beings that sacrifice their lives for what?
(17:55.606)
A plot of jungle in Southeast Asia?
(18:01.782)
And you say to yourself, you know, what might they have created or built or their kids or their grandkids might have created and built for what?
(18:14.502)
coming out of the Pentagon, pushed by the media. I know, let’s do the entire war on terror.
(18:25.846)
That’s all for our own good. Yeah. Department of Homeland Security, Patriot Act decades in Afghanistan for what? What, what did we achieve? What did you, they actually had an editorial in the, um, Wall Street Journal today. Some guy was pushing that the United States should, uh, be spending money to modernize Iraq, help helping Iraq out at this point in time.
Quite frankly, I gotta believe, I mean, I’m sure, you know, if Iraq would be thrilled if we wanted to hand them over money, but do you really think that they want us involved over there? Huh? Hey, maybe private enterprise, maybe private business, but our government?
(19:12.055)
Take a look at what we did.
(19:16.334)
You never see that. You never see the news crews go to some of these spots where we were involved. You never see, anybody see any news crews on the ground in Tripoli, and going to Libya and going to somebody’s place to see what we’ve done there? And all of these things, all of these things, media, Washington, DC, working together.
(19:42.798)
So again, it’s both sides. I, for the life of me, I for the life of me, I cannot figure out why. Why, you know, one of these networks hasn’t said, you know what? I’m not gonna lie.
(20:01.878)
We’re gonna call it like it is. We’re gonna go old school. We’re gonna, you know, you know, we’re gonna make journalism, try to make journalism great again. I love to watch a news program from time to time. And there’s some good ones out there, but I love to watch a news program from time to time, or have a newspaper out there where from, you know, the moment you pick up, you see the headline, you automatically know what the political affiliation is.
(20:32.854)
And let me tell you something, this is, it hasn’t always been this bad. Again, going back in time, little side story. I proposed to my wife in Greece. I say we went there in the fall, I wanted to meet her family over there. I remember, I remember, I couldn’t believe it. I got tickets on, price line, is that even still around? I got tickets on.
price line, you know, you put a number in and then if you you get that number, you have to buy the tickets, tickets round trip to it’s like 250 300 bucks. And this was 1990s Greece, and it’s a lot different today than it was back then. I remember being amazed, you know, different television stations there at the time that were basically affiliated with political parties.
(21:30.126)
Communist station yet this station this news station. I’m saying myself this messed up
(21:37.518)
This is messed up. This is terrible. I don’t like this at all. Having an essence we’ve done, we managed to do the same thing here.
(21:51.662)
I was talking about this past weekend. I said, you know, when I really, I really stopped watching Sean Handy’s television program is when he got rid of Combs. God rest his soul. And again, he was a wonderful, wonderful guy. Again, I disagreed with him. So going to Fox there, and I used to have conversation. We wouldn’t agree on, you know, many things, but we’d have intelligent conversations.
At least there was a bit of a debate there, a little bit of back and forth. No!
(22:23.678)
No, no, no, no. We just got to, we got to now tell everybody what they want to hear. Serve up the red meat. And again, to me, it’s a, quite frankly, it’s an opportunity. It’s a business opportunity. You take a look at these companies, you know, where does, I’ll use Fox’s and say, where’s Fox make the majority of his money? Fox makes the majority of its money based upon.
(22:51.022)
cable outlets and providers out there, paying them to carry their station. I mean, take a look at the advertisers on Fox and some of these other networks. Just take a look. Oh, they have advertisers. They do. But it’s, let’s see. I mean, Fox, the MyPillow guy.
(23:21.706)
He’s got to be the big dog there. And again, they’re not done yet. I mean, Dominion’s going after Mike Lindell. They’re going after some of these other people. They’re going after Giuliani and some of these other people that were heavily involved. They’re not done yet.
(23:41.698)
But man, you know, if you manage to try to do things down the middle, not only could you, you know, sell subscriptions, but you could also sell advertising to a greater degree. And I, you remember, again, give me an example of this. Do you remember one of the most highly rated Fox programs for an extended period of time was Glenn Beck.
(24:07.662)
Glenn Beck and I, again, I’ve been on Glenn Beck’s show, I’ve been on his radio show, I’ve called into his producers, ripping them a new one based upon some of the ridiculous guests that they had on the program that had no clue, that were spewing out absolute nonsense. Again, that’s kind of the last I heard from Glenn Beck. They used to ask me to write for the Blaze all the time. But anyway.
(24:37.106)
Even though Glenn Beck had a highly rated, it was number one as time slot on Fox there in the afternoon. It was what is known as dead calories. What’s dead calories? Dead calories are wasted calories, whatever you wanna call it. May have great ratings, but can’t sell ads. Advertisers wanna touch that. I mean, you’re gonna be Coca-Cola.
(25:05.142)
You can advertise on a Glenn Beck program where he’s having Gerald Celention next, telling everybody that the sky is going to fall and the world is going to end.
(25:15.610)
No!
(25:17.910)
No, you know, rather than having, you know, one guy on to give his opinion, why don’t you have another guy on? And again, that happened one time. I can’t remember what show I was on, but I was on with Gerald Salente and we were arguing back and forth and he’s got his end of the world dire predictions. This has gotta be about at least 15 years ago. And again, I’m like, you gotta be kidding me, man.
You’re betting on the end of the world. That’s gonna only happen one time. It’s only gonna happen one time. We’ll find a way to correct things. Cooler heads hopefully will eventually prevail. And that’s again, you have to have hope. I’ve got children. I’m not gonna hope or put any bets on the end of the world. Again, as tough as we are on what’s happening.
We are right now, we’re talking about the media or lack thereof or the crap job that they’re doing. I want to believe that at some point in time, the pendulum is going to swing back. It’s going to swing back. And I’ve said this before, I miss. I mean, I mean, this is when I was in college and I’m studying over and you go into the little, you know, student.
(26:46.774)
hangout lounge area at our school in Florence, Italy, and they had the little box TV there, and they had, you know, it was at CNN News. It was something that we could watch, half an hour. Get your news, and you were done.
(27:04.994)
But look at what they turned it into, the 24 hour news cycle. And we saw this coming, just as much as we saw the evils of social media coming. I mean, even Fox in its infancy, full disclosure, back in the day, my wife was doing advertising sales. She worked at Fox News. And I used to make fun back then, I’m saying, what is it with Greta Van Susteren and…
Aruba, a horrible story, this missing girl, but they turned it into a damn soap opera for crying out loud. People go missing all the time. But again, they have the 24 hour news network, you gotta fill time with stories, you gotta make them bigger. I mean, CNN had, oh my God, Nancy Grace, I think she’s on Fox now.
(28:00.730)
The one that went after all of the Duke lacrosse, why they’re all guilty! Without any flippin’ information whatsoever, she went on and she did it, and she’s still on frickin’ TV, man.
(28:14.230)
I mean, at some point in time, these people, these media darlings should just get fired for screwing up on air, that pushing BS. No, no, no. They get fired for dating their colleagues or not being woke enough or whatever it may be. A tweet that they put out when they were in high school.
(28:43.330)
But no, no, no, you can’t get fired. You can’t get fired for doing a shit job. No, no, no, they’re too popular at that.
(28:52.654)
What if, again, one of some of these networks change? To me, I’m being honest, for Fox News right now, I’m CEO of Fox, I’m like, after this came out, you say, you know what? We’re gonna have our come to Jesus moment. We’re going to change the way our lineup is in prime time. We’re going to make it more of a debate-oriented program.
We’re gonna have opposing viewpoints because again, the arguments they have are just, they’re just ridiculous. They really are. Now I told you this story before. In Fox’s green room, this is a while ago, 10, 12 years ago. And it was Megan Kelly had her show at that point in time. And I’m watching in the green room two…
(29:47.438)
two attorneys, I don’t remember what topic they were going on to talk about, but they were opposing points of view. They were actually in the green room, actually in the green room, working on the debate that they were gonna have. Like it was professional wrestling, working out their routine so it would look good on TV. And I remember, I’m sitting there. I’m sitting there with,
Bob Bechel, remember Bob Bechel, late Bob Bechel. And he was paid contributor. I mean, whenever they needed a left-wing viewpoint to try to make it look like things were balanced out, he would have to answer his phone. He’s on call like a doctor. He’d have to come in. So I’m going in, we’re gonna have this, who was it? I forget, it was a Belling show. He’s no longer there. I think he’s on Newsmax.
I can’t remember. And the topic was social security and sustainability. And I’m talking to Beko, we’re going on together and he’s gonna be an opposing viewpoint. And he had no clue, he had no clue anything about social security. He’s asking me how it actually works. And he got bored quick. Actually, all he wanted to talk about, I remember this. All he wanted to talk about was the book he was reading, the Keith Richards book.
So I gotta get this Keith Richards book, it’s awesome. This is what you’re relying upon?
(31:22.614)
Professional wrestling Professional wrestling, you know that we all know you want professional wrestling. It’s not real
(31:32.158)
Much of what you see in cable news isn’t real either. Again.
(31:42.274)
Have a great day. Everybody, my take, it is what it is. Watchdog on wallstreet.com.
