Are Political Parties Finally Dying in America?
(00:00.238)
Could we be seeing the death of political parties? man, don’t don’t make me put a smile on my face. I would love to see that as people long time listeners here. I know my disdain for political parties, you know, and they keep calling and they keep asking me to join and they keep asking for me for money. And there’s no way. No way.
I’ve had my fill in the inner workings of political parties and the lies that they tell. Again, I’ve mentioned this before. I have to at least hand it to the donkeys. At least they pretty much do what they say they’re going to do. Republicans, they say they’re going to do something and many of the things that they want to do, I happen to agree with, not all.
But they never do them. It’s just one gaslight after another. I told the story before when the whole Tea Party movement picked up. And again, you know who was really threatened by the Tea Party was Democrats. It’s Republicans. Republican Party destroyed the Tea Party. They were scared out of them. I remember that was when, what’s the name there? Steel.
who’s now an MSNBC contributor. He was in charge of the Republican Party at the time. They wanted no part of that at all. They tried to weasel the way in and eventually they got in. Eventually they instilled their various different smooth operators and wrecked the entire thing. The original Tea Party, the thing that started, politicians were not invited. They weren’t invited to any of the speeches. They weren’t invited to participate. Neither here nor there.
This is encouraging. This is encouraging. And I’ve said it before and people yell and scream at me about it. Pick a candidate. Pick a candidate. And we’re at a point in time. We’re at a point in time here in this country where, you know, the old poop sandwich versus giant douche from South Park. Great episode of South Park way back in the day. Two bad candidates, two ridiculous candidates.
(02:26.286)
I really won’t waste my time anymore. I almost think it would be better to have extraordinarily low turnout and people not voting for ridiculous candidates to maybe push back to some degree. Again, focus, get ridiculous candidates on the national level. Make sure you’re paying attention to your local elections because the base has to be built. You have to build up some quality people from somewhere. But this is interesting. US political party identification.
1988 to 2025. Wow.
Right now, right now, the amount of people who declared themselves independents in 1988 was 32%.
It’s now 45%. The amount of people that declare themselves Republicans and Democrats or Democrats now 27%. Again, people are tired of it. was interesting. was Billy Bob Thornton, the actor, was on Joe Rogan’s program. He plays the lead character and land man and he’s a
speak. He’s a pretty righteous dude. He’s said politically, I call myself a radical moderate. I just look at what makes sense. And I think we need a common sense party in this country. Roads like a non ideologically captured party instead of us versus them. Well, everything that’s what they’ve turned it into, again, us versus them, people unwilling, unwilling to deviate unwilling to have any sort of an intelligent conversation with others, which
(04:16.61)
goes nowhere, goes nowhere. We’ve gotten to the point in time where, know, it’s, you, you get people that rather than answer questions, they insult the person asking the question. I learned this back my earlier radio days doing daily drive time programming that you don’t engage people.
like that. You don’t argue with idiots because they’ve got way too much experience of being an idiot. So if you’re trying to if you’re asking a question, mean, they’re gonna they’re gonna come back and they’re gonna insult you. really no point. You’re not going to go anywhere with that person. And more and more people are engaging in that way. And that’s not a very high level of discourse. As far as political parties are concerned. Remind everybody that gee whiz.
The founders of this country viewed political parties not a good light. They called them factions. Factions. And basically saw them as divisive and dangerous. They said that they people again would end up prioritizing loyalty to leaders or ideologies over the common good, foster corruption, promote revengeful partisanship and even threaten
liberty itself.
Boy, Those founders were pretty smart weren’t they? Geez, might we want to listen to some of the things that they were telling us back then? But no no no no no no no no we’re told there’s no other way. You have to work within the party system. Have to. Can’t do it any other way. Got to stick with it this way when it’s continuing to destroy the country.
(06:07.59)
And don’t say it’s helpful, it’s not. It’s horrible. Let’s look some of this up. Prominent views. George Washington, one of the strongest opponents. In his farewell address, he explicitly warned against the dangers of political parties. He described them as likely to become potent engines for cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled people to subvert popular power and usurp authorities for themselves. He feared partisanship would lead to a spirit of revenge.
geographic divisions, foreign influence and overall destruction of national unity. Washington saw parties as a threat that could undermine Republican government. You know, if any of these founders came back to life, it’s to say, yeah, think, well, you had some time machine and you could bring them back today. And they saw it was going, they’d be assassinated. Baby, kill Lickety Split. Okay?
Parties are great for who? They’re great for the elites. They’re great for the well connected. That’s all it is. the ones that they, know, get the handouts, get the giveaways, get the deals. And it’s gross, quite frankly. Did you see, did you see, they did that viewing of the Melania?
documentary this past weekend at the White House. Did you see who attended that? Who was invited to attend that?
Did you really think Tim Cook wanted to go to that from Apple? Better show up, man. He knew better, better show up. Again, it’s the type of power that they have and it’s fricking creepy. Anyway, James Madison, Federalist Number 10, 1787. He addressed the problem directly. He defined them as groups united by passion or interests adverse to the rights of others.
(08:07.47)
or the community’s permanent interests. He argued that factions are inevitable in a free society, but their mischiefs could be controlled through a larger public with diverse interests rather than eliminated. Well, I need to see soft parties is problematic. Ah, he thought that, you know, there wouldn’t much they could do about it. Basically, the Democratic Republican faction going against Hamilton at the point in time. Adams didn’t like it.
again, he feared nothing more than dividing the republic into two great parties. Jefferson very anti party. This can they weren’t wrong. They weren’t wrong. And to see that more and more people are going the way of independence, the better off we’re going to be. You have certain people that were operating within let’s talk about the Republican Party because that was the last party I was
a member of when did I quit 2003-2004 I can’t remember exactly. You get guys like Thomas Massey, Rand Paul actually pushing back against the president. There’s supposed to be a checks and balances they talk about how the president is the leader of the party.
Yeah, The party is not all supposed to do the exact same thing we are a very very big country and there’s different ways of looking at things and Having different points of view and looking at things in a different way is beneficial It’s beneficial Someone will see something that you might not see or a better way of doing things But nope, party elites say we’re gonna do it this way. Well, no you push back you voice your opinion you want
to encourage that. Any type of business that’s going to be successful, it’s the same thing. Tell me what you think. I asked my bloody interns over the summer, where am I getting it wrong on this? What am I doing? What do you see that I don’t see? Push back against various of the better ways to We don’t have that anymore. It’s dictatorial control by the President of the United States and again,
(10:32.11)
You got all these lackeys in Congress, but again, you know, they’re making a fortune. They’re making a fortune and quite frankly, most of them, most of them, you know, I don’t, what else would they be doing outside of being a little shyster in Washington DC? Take a look at their resumes. Pretty empty for the most part. Anyway, Watchdogonwallstreet.com.
